Hidenori Mitsui

Mr. Hidenori Mitsui was appointed as the Governor of the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Japan (DICJ) in March 2021.

Before joining the DICJ, Mr. Mitsui served as the Director-General of the Policy and Markets Bureau, the Financial Services Agency, Japan (JFSA) from July 2018 to July 2019 and a project professor at the Graduate Schools for Law and Politics, the University of Tokyo from April 2020 to February 2021.

Mr. Mitsui started his career with the Ministry of Finance in 1983 and moved to the JFSA in 2001. He has various working experiences at the JFSA, such as the Director for Supervision of Supervisory Coordination Division (in charge of financial crisis management), Deputy Director-General of the Planning and Coordination Bureau (in charge of the amendment of Deposit Insurance Act), and Director-General of the Inspection Bureau.

Mr. Mitsui is an attorney at law. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Tokyo and the Master of the Science of Law from Stanford Law School.
